I’m glad I took these images yesterday because it is pouring rain outside, booo! It’s been a crazy since I’ve returned from WPPI, I’ve been busy trying to implement everything that I’ve learned and I’m exhausted now…lots of late nights. Hopefully my new blog will be up soon, but I’m still working on the design. Almost done! Have a great weekend.

Here is a quick photo of Ernie on the back porch this morning…he looks so ferocious.  I’m leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow for the WPPI Convention, so I won’t be blogging any until next Friday.  Have a great weekend!

I was at a clients house yesterday doing a product shoot for her new website and we had to take a break to admire how CUTE her dogs were being!  I shot the dogs for about 5 minutes and I think we got some pretty fun images.  Here are some of my favorite.

As I was making my bed this morning, I noticed how incredible the light looked coming through the windows so I threw Ernie on the bed to take some photos before the light changed.  In the middle of our mini shoot my friend Tiffany called so we finished the last 1/2 of our shoot on speaker phone which made Ernie have some pretty cute faces.  I couldn’t decide whether I wanted to show you in color or b&w, so here is both.  I’ve decided to post new pictures of Ernie every Friday to celebrate the beginning of the weekend!

Studio Redo February 5, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jesskamm @ 1:25 pm

I have a fabulous studio that I haven’t been utilizing, primarily because I’ve discovered that I like shooting in natural light in my clients homes the best.  I think my photography is more personal and relaxing when it’s in my clients own environment. Soooo, I have been inspired to turn my studio into a space that showcases all of my prints and products where clients will come to order.  I’m going to have prints and canvases hanging on the walls in different sizes and textures so you can see and touch the product before ordering.  Below is a picture of  Cowbelly Pet Photography’s  office space in Seattle that has totally inspired me!  I’m really anxious to get started on this project, but I want to wait until I get back from the convention and trade show in Las Vegas because I have a feeling I’m going to find a bunch of cool new products I’m going to want to order.  Sooo, my goal is to have the space done and ready to use on March 1st.  I will still be shooting in my studio…but now it has 2 purposes!

Silhouette of the hadsters February 5, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — jesskamm @ 12:50 pm

I’ve been seeing dog silhouettes here and there on different photographers blogs and so I decided to try it myself.  I went into my studio yesterday and with the help of my dad, we got a couple good profiles of Hadleigh.  After some photoshop work…this is how it turned out.  I was talking to a creative friend of mine yesterday and he suggested an easier way to do it.  Instead of shooting Hadleigh on gray paper, I should shoot on a green screen.  Why didn’t I think of that?   It sounds complicated, but it’s really not.  Instead of using gray paper, I should use green because it’s easier to make my selections in photoshop that way.  I’m going to make doggy notecards using her silhouette, can’t wait to see how they turn out.  If they look awesome, then I’m going to start offering a doggy silhouette notecard session to my clients.  I’ll show you once I get my cards back from my lab.

Parker February 2, 2009

My friends Marty and Chad recently moved to the area and I’ve been dying to see their new baby…so I headed up there on Saturday morning to meet Parker.  We had a great shoot using natural light in their house, my favorite.  He was 9 pounds 14 ounces when he was born, wow!  He’s 6 weeks old now and can already do a great job of holding his head up…isn’t he adorable?!?!  I think he’s going to be a professional athlete when he grows up.  I couldn’t decide if I liked the first image in color or b&w so I’m showing you both.  Here he is!!!
